C | Crisis Management

Stockholm University has a tip line for students and staff to report crimes, threats, harassment, or safety concerns. Checklists for crisis situations are also available for download.

D | Defibrillator/
Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

There are three (3) Defibrillators at the Geoscience building.

  • S corridor (this one outside Krister Junghahn's office is the closest to us)
  • U-huset (outside the lecture hall)
  • Y-huset (outside De Geer lecture hall).

S | Secondary Employment

According to Swedish law, secondary employment is any activity outside your main job that is not part of your private life. Please take a few minutes to read Stockholm University’s guidelines on secondary employment.

T | Terms of employment (Wellness, pension, vacation, etc)

Here you’ll find information on working hours, sick leave and healthcare, various types of leave, holidays, and insurance and pensions.

If you fall ill, contact your supervisor/manager on your first sick day and report your absence in Primula.

If you are sick more than longer than 7 consecutive days, submit a medical certificate to Head of Administration at IGV, Viktoria Arwinge.

Upon returning to work, make a return to work report via Primula.

University employees may also contact Avonova for telephone advice and support sessions. Please contact our Head of Administration to assist you with booking. Read more under Health.

To make a report of sickness/return to work report:

  • Log in to Primula
  • Click on “Sjuk/friskanmälan” under “Min sida/My Page”
  • Complete the form

All Stockholm University employees are insured, but coverage may vary depending on your employment type. To see what applies to you, visit Insurance at SU's staff pages.

Travel Insurance (Domestic and International)

All employees travelling on Stockholm University business are covered by the Swedish State Business Travel Insurance.

For international travel, you are insured via Stockholm University by Kammarkollegiet. You need a Swedish State Business Travel Insurance Certificate. Please contact Susanna Blåndman to obtain the insurance certificate. The certificate must be carried during the trip.

For travel within the EU, bring a valid EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), which can be ordered through Försäkringskassan. You will need to show it if you require medical care.

Employers may grant leave for various reasons. Some types are your right, while others are granted at the employer’s discretion, depending on operational needs.

Types of leave you are entitled to include: holidays, study leave, parental leave, care for relatives, and urgent family leave. Leave should be planned in consultation with your manager.

Holidays

Full-time employees are entitled to the following number of holiday days per calendar year:

  • 28 days – until the year you turn 29
  • 31 days – from the year you turn 30
  • 35 days – from the year you turn 40

If you start employment mid-year, you receive holiday days proportional to your employment period. The holiday year aligns with the calendar year.

Saving Holidays

Full-time employees must take at least 20 holiday days per year. Remaining days can be carried over to the next year. You may keep days for an unlimited period, but never more than 30 saved days at any time.

  • Complete the form

If you need occupational health support, contact the Head of Administration at IGV, who is responsible for rehabilitation matters. The Head of Administration can help you book appointments and, if necessary, set up a rehabilitation plan.

All employees, regardless of funding, are entitled to up to three (3) anonymous support sessions per calendar year with a psychologist/behavioural scientist at Avonova. Additional sessions or other occupational health services require approval from IGV’s rehabilitation manager, Viktoria Arwinge.

Salary Exchange

Salary exchange allows a deduction from your gross salary by an amount of your choice. For more information, visit Salary exchange or speak to Viktoria Arwinge.

Wellness benefit

As an employee, you are entitled to a wellness benefit. For more information about wellness benefit .

To claim the allowance, your receipt must not be older than six months at the time of payment, and your name or personal ID number must appear on it.

To request reimbursement for wellness activities:

  • Log in to Primula.
  • Click on “Friskvård/Wellness” in the drop-down menu under “Min sida/My Page”.
  • Complete the form.
  • Scan and attach your receipt in Primula.
  • Keep the receipt until the money appears in your account.

Wellness hour

Employees on a monthly salary can spend one work hour per week on wellness activities. If you work part-time, the wellness hour is proportional to your working hours.

You may use the wellness hour as long as it does not interfere with work. It cannot be saved for later use.

If you experience a work injury or incident, you must report it in Stockholm University’s system for work-related incidents.

Definition of work related injury:

injury resulting from an accident or other harmful effect at work
accident on the way to or from work
occupational disease, such as stress-related diseases, strain diseases etc, or
infection (e.g. when travelling abroad on official missions).

Incident means an undesirable event that could have led to ill health or an accident.

T | Travel and Expenses

Always state the purpose of business travel, representation, purchases, or expenses to improve internal controls. This also helps during audits.

Business travel insurance cards are issued upon request. Please notify us well before departure.

W | Wellness activities

Staff Gym (Paid)

The Allhuset has a gym that is open to all Stockholm University staff. It has equipment for both cardio and strength training.

The staff gym has bicycles, stair climbers, rowing machines, treadmills, cross trainers, AMT, SkiErg, free weights, strength training machines, TRX and kettlebells.

Payment is made at the Frescati or Albano Service Centre.

Group Activities at Frescati (Free)

Employees at Stockholm University have the opportunity to participate free of charge in selected group training activities with SSIF in the Frescati Sports Hall.

Outdoor gyms and activity cabinets

  • An outdoor gym is located at Frescati, between Stockholm University Liberary and Frescati Backe.
  • An outdoor gym is located in Kräftriket, between restaurant Kräftan and Brunnsviken.
  • Activity cabinets are available on campus and contains equipment for outdoor activities.
