Basic fire safety training

This training provides basic knowledge of fire prevention and safe evacuation. It concludes with a practical exercise in which you will try using a fire extinguisher.

  • The Civil Protection Act and the department’s responsibilities
  • Systematic fire safety management (SBA) and the fire safety organisation
  • How fires start and develop, and why time is critical
  • Lessons from previous fires
  • Common fire hazards and how to prevent them
  • Human behaviour in emergencies and risks during evacuation
  • Evacuation plans, fire and evacuation alarms, and fire safety equipment
  • Practical fire extinguisher training

Fire safety in laboratories

This training is equivalent to Basic fire safety training but is adapted for laboratory staff, focusing on fire hazards and safety procedures in laboratory environments. It concludes with a practical outdoor fire extinguisher exercise.

  • Handling and storage of flammable goods

  • Evacuation procedures and evacuation stations
  • Evacuation plans, escape route signage, and fire and evacuation alarms
  • Fire safety equipment in laboratories
  • A tour covering structural fire protection
  • Practical fire extinguisher training
