Video service

The Video service allows staff to record or upload videos and then distribute them via links or publish them on the Athena learning management system.

The Video service is free of charge and available to all staff by logging in with their university account. You can use the service through the standalone login at video.su.se or directly from within the Athena learning platform. Students have the opportunity to use the service from within Athena to, for example, record and upload a film.

You can record audio and video from your computer screen or from your webcam. You can edit the films and cut out unwanted parts, divide them into chapters, add interactive questions, add subtitles, etc. You can choose between making the films private or available to everyone.

In Athena, you can easily select from your films in the Video Service and embed them in a media player in different places in the course site. The course site also has a course channel where you and your students can see an aggregated view of all the films in the course.

The films recorded are created in different qualities (resolutions) to work on the majority of browsers and devices. This means that the media player on the device you are using will recognise the resolution of your device and select the film with the best quality.

The video service is a SUNET service called SUNET Play, based on the Kaltura platform. A large number of higher education institutions in Sweden already use this platform to manage video films in teaching, among other things.
