Admission

Admission to first- and second-cycle courses and programmes is carried out via application to antagning.se and the English equivalent universityadmissions.se.

Admissions take place year-round in one of the nearly 20 admission rounds in which Stockholm University is involved throughout the year. This is done through the national admissions system NyA, and the Admissions Office is responsible for the process. However, the work is largely coordinated with the departments.
The departments primarily carry out their admission-related tasks on NyA-webben.

NyA-webben

NyA-webben is a web-based admission system for staff working at university departments. It's mandatory to attend a course about NyA-webben in order to get access to the system. This course contains information about the admissions process at Stockholm University including rules and regulations about admission to higher education in Sweden. It also includes information about NyA-webben and how to review applicants, mainly to Masters programmes.
Do you wish to attend to a course about NyA-webben? Please contact antagningen@su.se for more information.
Please note! This course in English will not include admission of students on the waiting list (reserve) or conditional admitted students. To get access to these functions, you must attend the course “NyA-webben och Antagningsprocessen” in Swedish.

Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test

Every autumn and spring, Stockholm University assists UHR in conducting the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test in Stockholm Region. The purpose of the test is to measure knowledge and skills that are important for the ability to succeed in higher education studies. The work takes place at a number of different test facilities around the Stockholm region.

Before each test, we are looking for swedish speaking staff who can work on the test day and make an important contribution to society!

Information for admitted students

Applicants receive their admission results via antagning.se and universityadmissions.se. Along with the admission notification, there is also a message from Stockholm University with information about the next steps before the start of the semester.

Information on the web

Admitted students can find information about the start of courses for spring and autumn directly on the course and programme pages in a special section on the page that is displayed as soon as the admission notice has gone out. The text displayed is divided into two parts

  • general information, such as a checklist, welcome day information, link to maps of all campuses, links to important information,
  • the department's information on roll call, registration, learning management system, induction days, etc.

Please note that this only applies to the two national admissions rounds for the autumn and spring semester. For other admissions rounds, e.g. the international masters admission round, it is possible to create a customised information section on the course- or programme page.

Information and welcome letters via the Email tool

There are specifically designed templates for e-mailing admitted students in our Email tool to facilitate the communication. The templates are flexible and include headings, images, sample texts and important legal information. Information about welcome activities is also included.

The email should not duplicate the information found on the course and programme page, but should instead contain a link to the page in the course catalogue. This is to facilitate the workflow.

Welcome activities

At the start of the semester, the Student Services organises a number of activities − both online and on campus − to welcome and introduce new students.

The programme includes introductory lectures, a fair with student support services and student unions, guided tours and social activities. The activities are voluntary and are open to all new students, regardless of subject, course or programme.

In addition, the institutions organise their own activities at the start of the semester.
