Support to students

There are several types of support available at the university for our students. Here you can find out more about the support available so that you can direct students to the right one. This will make it easier for them to get the support and help they need.

Information and communication

The main information and communication channels for our students are digital, mainly our websites and emails, from prospective student to graduation, and also after graduation (via the career portal) and alumni activities. However, we also publish the Stockholm University magazine in November each year to inspire students to study at, for example, fairs and events.

Websites

For prospective students up to the start of the course, all necessary information is available on the course and programme pages in the Education Catalogue with links to further information and applications on antagning.se and universityadmissions.se. At the time of the admission notice, a section on the pages is activated that shows specific information to admitted students before the start of the course.

Newsletters

Our email tool allows you to easily send newsletters to different groups of students, which is especially used in connection with the admission process. During term time, the Student Services sends out a number of newsletters per term with up-to-date and timely information.

Learning management systems

From the start of the semester, communication with students is mainly via the Athena learning platform (the Department of Computer and Systems Science uses a different system).

Infocenter

Studenthuset at Frescati is a meeting place for students on the Frescati campus. Studenthuset has an Infocenter, both silent and ‘non-silent’ reading places, bookable group rooms, rest and breastfeeding rooms, microwaves and a café.

Service and support

The Service Portal - which is a knowledge database for self-help - contains manuals, guides and instructional films for both IT systems and software. It also provides answers to questions about our computer labs, printing, scanning, copying or general questions about IT for students. In the Service Portal, they can also create a ticket to IT support if they cannot find the answer to your question.

As an employee, student or visitor, you can get help with various premises, service and security-related issues at the Property Department's service centre. The Property Department's service centres are located in the Albano and Frescati södra university areas.

Meeting rooms and study spaces

Stockholm University is constantly creating more study spaces in its own premises. Places where students can sit and study in a focused way, individually or in groups. But also places for relaxation, socialising or reflection.

On the Frescati and Albano campuses, there are up to 3000 study spaces in total.

Study and career counselling

Study and career guidance at Stockholm University is organised on two levels, centrally at the Student Services and department-specific study and career guidance.

There is a lot of support for study and career counsellors in the form of information channels, further training, networks, and other resources for study counselling organised by the Student Services.

The University's Job and Career Guidance Portal allows you to promote your own career events.

Student Health Service

The Student Health Service offers individual counselling, groups, workshops and other activities to take care of students' well-being during their studies. This may involve, for example, stress-related problems, depression, anxiety and/or study-related difficulties such as procrastination, speech anxiety or problems finding a balance between studies and leisure time.

Educational support

Stockholm University works with different types of help and resources to support students with different needs. These include teaching adaptations, use of technology, interpreters and much more. The goal is to create an inclusive environment where all students can succeed.

The library

The Stockholm University Library is an important resource for students. In addition to being able to borrow and order literature, students also have access to scientific literature, journals and databases, in print and electronic format. The library also has experts in information retrieval and reference management, who can help students with search techniques and give advice on writing essays, theses or similar. They also give advice on source criticism and provide training in reference management programmes.

Guides and films are available on the library website to help you with your studies:
