Employee Survey 2026
During 2026, Stockholm University will conduct an employee survey. This information is addressed to you as a manager.
To ensure that Stockholm University's Employee Survey 2026 is carried out successfully, you as a manager need to complete several actions before, during, and after the survey period in March.
Before the survey period, your department/equivalent need to update the participant list provided by the HR Office.
During the survey period, you play a key role in engaging and encouraging employees to respond.
After the survey period, it is your responsibility, in collaboration with the HR Office, to present, follow up, and act on the results.
About the survey
Stockholm University will conduct an employee survey between 9 and 29 March 2026. The survey will be carried out in collaboration with the provider QuickSearch.
The survey is addressed to all employees, including PhD students and researchers with other types of funding.
The purpose is to map the experience of the organisational and social work environment and provide managers with a basis for developing the work environment.
The results will be analysed and serve as a starting point for continued dialogue and improvement efforts, both within individual units and in the university’s overall work on work environment and equal opportunities.
The Employee Survey 2026 covers the following areas:
- PhD students’ work and study situation (only for PhD students)
Includes questions about the establishment and follow-up of the individual study plan, supervision, support during introduction, and conditions for completing the thesis. - Working climate and stress
Includes questions about job satisfaction, balance, participation, reasonable conditions, respect, appreciation, rest and recuperation, management and planning, clear assignments, workload, and stress. - Leadership
Questions address direct leadership in relation to the immediate manager and are complemented by questions about the management at the department/equivalent. PhD students also answer questions about collaboration with their supervisor. - Harassment, sexual harassment, victimisation, threats and hatred
Questions focus on the occurrence of perceived harassment, sexual harassment, victimisation, threats and hate. They also cover questions whether the respondent has informed their manager or management about the perceived incident and whether any support was provided.

Preparation phase
Employee list
The HR Office will email heads of administrative offices and administrative managers, with a copy to heads of department/equivalent, a preliminary list of all employees in the department/equivalent who, according to current criteria, should be invited to participate in the survey. Your task is to review and complete the list according to the instructions attached to the email.
The finalised list must be sent back to the HR Office no later than 5 February 2026: medarbetarundersokning@su.se.
Participants
The survey will be offered to all employees, including otherwise funded PhD students/researchers, who work at least 50 % and are employed on 7 January 2026 and still employed on 29 March 2026.
Employees on full-time leave of absence, full-time sick leave, or full-time parental leave do not participate.
High response rate is important
To ensure that the results of the survey can be used to develop and improve efforts to promote a good social and organisational work environment, it is important that as many participants as possible respond.
As a manager, you play a key role in engaging and motivating employees to participate. The HR Office will keep heads of departments/equivalent and heads of administrative offices updated on the current response rate, with the goal of achieving a response rate of at least 70 %.
Results
Stockholm University’s overall results will be presented to the Senior Management Team and the Work Environment Committee (RALV).
The results for departments/equivalent will be available to all heads of departments and heads of administrative office in the provider's results portal from 20 April 2026.
In the results portal, it is easy to download ready-made reports in both Swedish and English.
The results for the section on PhD students’ working and study conditions will not be included in reports for departments/equivalent. Instead, this is handled at the academic area level by the area offices and presented in relevant forums.
Continued work on the results
When the results are available in the results portal, you as an authorised manager can conduct your own analysis. The HR Office will offer the management at departments/equivalent a meeting to jointly analyse the results.
Based on the analysis, you will develop actions to be included in the annual ALV plan (Work Environment and Equal Opportunities Plan).
In addition, there will be university-level actions that you can incorporate into your local ALV plans.
The results should also be discussed and collaborated within your local RALV groups and presented to all employees at the department/equivalent.
