To retire

The retirement age for all employees at Stockholm University is 65 years and is calculated from the last day of the calendar month before the 65th birthday. An employee is entitled to remain in employment until the end of the month in which he or she reaches the age of 69 (Section 32a the Employment Protection Ac t, LAS).

Guidance and forecast

Stockholm University has an agreement with the National Government Employee Pensions Board (SPV) on pension management. This means that employees at Stockholm University receive extended customer service with answers to their questions directly from SPV and that they take care of the administration of our occupational pensions.

SPV will contact you seven months before you turn 65 to ask how you plan your pension. They will then help you with your application and with a pension forecast. If you wish to retire before the age of 65, you must contact the SPV yourself.

Partial retirement

Partial retirement is an option for those born in 1965 or earlier. Leave is granted at 20 per cent of full-time. If there are special reasons, leave may be granted up to 50 per cent. Each application must be considered individually.

Application and decision

Applications for partial retirement are made on a special form available under forms for staff matters. The application is submitted to the Head of department/equivalent, who forwards it to the Human Resources Office with a justification.
