Organisation

Education and research at Stockholm University is divided into two scientific fields: the Humanities and the Natural Sciences.

Each area is governed by an Area Board, chaired by the Vice-Rector. The Area Board for Humanities has three faculties under it: the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Social Sciences, each of which is governed by a faculty board chaired by a dean. The Area Board for Natural Sciences is also the Faculty Board for the Faculty of Science.

Within the area faculties there are 53 departments and institutes that conduct research, education and co-operation with the surrounding society. The departments are governed by a departmental board and led by a head of department.

The University Administration consists of 11 departments and is led by the University Director.
