Internationalisation activities at SU
The university is an international academic environment. We work actively to provide comprehensive support for international activities and thus contribute to more incoming and outgoing students, teachers, researchers and postdocs.
There are many opportunities for students and teachers to put an international stamp on the education, for example through development projects together with educational institutions in other countries and shorter or longer stays abroad to teach, study or practice. Several opportunities exist for staff mobility also for purposes other than teaching.
Responsible internationalisation
The geopolitical changes of recent years have placed new demands on how Swedish universities approach international collaborations and partnerships. To safeguard Swedish interests, knowledge, and technology, an increased awareness of risks is required among universities and colleges, state research funders, and government agencies.
International networks and collaborations
Stockholm University is a member of various networks and programs that enable collaboration and mobility for students, teachers and staff. Programs are usually based on agreements between two parties (bilateral), while networks consist of several actors (multilateral).
Signing exchange agreements
The departments make up the foundation of the university’s internationalisation work, and the majority of the university’s cooperation agreements are on departmental level. Preferably, international cooperation should be on department or faculty level.
Support for internationalisation
The International Office provides support for increased internationalisation at SU. This includes, among other things, work with university-wide international initiatives, coordination of the Erasmus program, handling of student exchanges within university-wide agreements and networks and coordination of the university's work with international student recruitment. The International Office is responsible for mobility issues within the Civis collaboration.

Recruitment of international employees
The Human Resources Office provides support to institutions in recruiting international employees. This may involve advice on issues related to work and residence permits, information on the Swedish pension system, taxes and social security issues, as well as family-related issues such as i.e. suggestions for schools for accompanying children.
We regularly invite you to information meetings with, for example, the Swedish Migration Agency, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Tax Agency and the Kammarkollegiet. The personnel department has procured an agreement with the company Human Entrance, which offers relocation services. We also collaborate with the institutions in drawing up URA contracts that are signed in connection with sending out employees.
