University account and SUKAT
SUKAT is a database containing information on all users at Stockholm University, both staff and students. All users are issued with a university account (linked to IT access), which provides access to a wide range of services, such as email, the wireless network, file storage, the Canvas learning platform, and more. Through your University Account, you can access the library’s services and obtain a university card (printing and photocopying card).
In Account Management, you can manage your University Account, for example, activate the wireless network (eduroam), block your university card, etc.
At the department, Ulrika Palm, Head of Administration, is responsible for SUKAT.

Remote access (VPN)
Remote access (VPN) is a service providing remote access to the university’s network. It enables users to connect to the university’s network remotely and provides access to resources that would otherwise only be accessible on the University of Stockholm’s premises.
Service description: Remote access (VPN)
Printing and photocopying
A platform system linked to your personal SUKAT account is installed on the printers.
You can use your access card or university card at any printer to print, photocopy and scan. To register your card, you will need a UNIFLOW code. Read more about this here.
Printer faults should be reported via serviceportalen.su.se.
A photocopier is available in post room X318. Paper for the printer can be found in the post room. There is also a photocopier on floor X4 belonging to the Department of Physical Geography.
Computers/projectors in teaching rooms
Y21/Y22/DeGeer (= our lecture theatres) now have fixed computers installed, so you can simply save your PowerPoint presentation onto a USB stick (or upload it to BOX or another cloud service) and your presentation will work.
According to TimeEdit (the timetable system), the following lecture theatres are equipped with fixed projectors:
Ahlmann, DeGeer, Högbom, Nordenskiöld, William-Olsson, Y10, Y11, Y21, Y22, Y23, U27, U31, U33, U35, U36, U37 and X308.
You can book computers and projectors here
Wireless network
There are two networks at Stockholm University: ‘Eduroam’ (recommended as the first choice) and ‘SU’.
Find out more about how to use and connect to eduroam on the SU website. Please note that the procedure varies depending on the type of device (computer, mobile phone, tablet) and operating system.
The video service
Stockholm University has a video service which all staff can log into via their SU account to record videos and upload existing ones. The service is also directly integrated with Athena (the button at the top, to the left of ‘Support’), making it easy for lecturers to upload video material to course pages in Athena.
Recording video lectures
There is a video publishing tool for recording and uploading videos. The videos can be shared as links or published on the Athena learning platform.
Watch the tutorial videos at https://video.su.se to find out how:
- to log in
- to upload a video
- how to choose whether you want it to be publicly available and searchable, or whether only those with the link can view it
- you can also choose to publish it in a channel so that only logged-in SU students can access the video.
Telephony
The department primarily offers an SU telephone number via e-SIM. This can be requested from Simon Norström Friberg. If you require a work phone, please speak to your line manager.
