Teaching
For those of you who are lecturers at the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.
AV equipment in teaching rooms
Hörsalar, lärosalar och undervisningssalar på Frescati är utrustade med AV-teknik. Samtliga hörsalar och lärosalar har även stationära datorer.
Technical support
In the event of an urgent technical fault – please call: 08-446 63 99, between 07:30 and 16:30. For technical support (non-urgent issues), please refer to: The Service Portal/Contact the IT Department.
Please remember the following after using AV equipment
- Return the wireless microphones to their chargers
- Switch off the projector (using the ‘System Off’ button) – this extends the life of the lamp. We would be grateful if lecturers or administrators could inform us when the projector displays the message: “lamp is approaching to shut down”.

In addition to the Windows 10 operating system, the following software is installed on computers in the main lecture theatres and seminar rooms:

- Microsoft Edge
- Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Matlab
- Microsoft Office 2019 Professional Plus
- Putty
- Sophos Antivirus
- Windows Media Player
- VLC Media Player
- Zoom
The desktop computers in our lecture theatres have an internet connection. You can connect your own computer via the wireless network using your SU account to log in. Please use a USB stick in the teaching rooms to download media or other files.
Public address system with wireless microphone in 55-seat lecture theatres
Set-ups with wireless microphones and headsets are available in A5137, E306 and E319. In the lecture theatres, there is a white cabinet containing a receiver and transmitter with a wireless microphone. The cabinet is located close to the AV desk.
The receiver is switched on using the ON/OFF button; batteries are inserted into the transmitter and switched on in the same way as the receiver. After use, please remove the batteries and switch off the receiver and transmitter.
Assistive technology for the hearing impaired
In the lecture theatres in Frescati South, as well as in the G Theatre (Arrhenius), there is a loop system installed which is activated at the AV desk by pressing the ‘System start’ button and then ‘LOOP’. The lecturer uses one of four wireless microphones, which are located on the same desk.
In the lecture theatres at Frescati South (except D416 and D499), there is no permanent installation. Order portable assistive devices for the hearing impaired via the Service Portal. It is recommended that orders specifying the theatre, date and time are submitted at least one week before the booking date. We deliver, install and collect the equipment free of charge.
In Frescati South, lecture theatres D416 and D499, there are permanent installations which are activated at the AV desk by pressing the ‘System start’ button and the ‘Induction loop on’ and ‘Microphone on’ buttons. The lecturer uses a wireless microphone.
In rooms 610, 620 and 720, Frescati Backe (Svante Arrhenius väg 19F), there are two assistive devices (Sennheiser brand) in charging units by the whiteboard. These are used by people with hearing loss by pressing the start button (the volume can be adjusted from 0–6). The person using the hearing aid should sit on the right-hand side of the front row and point the device towards the loop amplifier by the whiteboard. In the unlocked right-hand section of the AV desk, there are two wireless microphones for the teacher’s use. The system is activated by switching on the AV system using any programme source (the ‘PC’, ‘VGA’ button, etc.).
Once the lesson has finished, please return the hearing loop and the wireless microphone to their respective charging units.
