Waste and recycling
Here you will find information on how to sort your waste, use the recycling rooms, and handle hazardous waste, confidential materials, and lithium-ion batteries.
It is important that waste is sorted correctly. By sorting waste properly, more materials can be recycled and reused.
The collected waste is reused, recycled, or disposed of safely in accordance with current procedures and environmental requirements.

Recycling
All departments have facilities for recyling.

In Frescati, there are recycling rooms where you can sort different types of waste.
Before disposing of furniture and equipment
Furniture and equipment that can still be used may be passed on within the university through Återbruksportalen (the Reuse Portal).

Confidential material
If you need to dispose of confidential material, you can order confidential waste containers through the Service Portal.
Price per collection: SEK 651 per container.
Deposit return (Pant)
There are dedicated deposit return containers on campus where you can leave PET bottles and cans.
The deposit return initiative is a collaboration between Stockholm University, Pantamera, and the recycling contractor Remondis. All proceeds are donated to Friends and their work against bullying and discrimination.
Lithium-Ion batteries
Defective or swollen lithium-ion batteries may pose a fire risk and must be handled immediately.
Several recycling rooms in Frescati have designated collection boxes for lithium-ion batteries. Damaged batteries must not be placed there and should instead be collected separately.
