Checklist in the event of threats and bomb threats

Stockholm University aims to be a safe and secure workplace for staff, students, and visitors. Here you will find checklists and information on procedures in the event of threats or bomb threats.

Telephone threats

Record

  • If possible, ask a colleague to listen in on the call.
  • Find out what type of threat it is (for example a bomb, sabotage or other), and where and when the threat is to be carried out.
  • Use the Checklist for telephone threats and bomb threats (PDF, 146 kB) to take notes.

Raise the alarm and inform immediately

  • Call 112 if the threat is acute.
  • University security guards (24/7): 08-16 42 00. The security guards will then contact the Officer on Duty (TiB) at Säkerhetsfunktionen, who will get back to you.
  • The manager responsible for the location or activity that is being threatened.

Keep in mind

  • Try to remain calm and factual, both when speaking to the person making the threat and when raising the alarm or informing others.
  • All threats related to Stockholm University’s activities must be reported in the incident reporting system.

Letter bomb or suspected explosive device on the premises

Act

  • Call 112 and request police assistance to deal with the suspected object.
  • Activate the evacuation alarm to speed up evacuation.
  • Evacuate the premises where the object is located and lock the doors, or cordon off the area in another suitable way.

Raise the alarm and inform immediately

  • University security guards (24/7): 08-16 42 00. The security guards will then contact the Officer on Duty (TiB) at Säkerhetsfunktionen, who will get back to you.
  • The manager responsible for the affected location or activity.

  • Try to remain calm and factual when contacting those you are alerting or informing.
  • All threats related to Stockholm University’s activities must be reported in the incident reporting system.

Threats via email or social media

Record

  • Save the email or link, or take a screenshot of the threat (for example from a blog, comment field, article or website).
  • Note the date and time when you received or discovered the message.

Raise the alarm and inform immediately

  • University security guards (24/7): 08-16 42 00.
  • Your immediate manager.
  • IT Support, to trace the sender if possible.

Keep in mind

  • Do not respond to the threat before consulting your immediate manager.
  • All threats related to Stockholm University’s activities must be reported in the incident reporting system.
  • Säkerhetsfunktionen can provide advice on how to act, assist with any police report and arrange security guard support if needed.
