At the end of October, a recruitment group was appointed to recruit a new Vice President for Stockholm University.

“The recruitment group consists of nine members: three members are appointed by the university board, three are appointed by the consultative assembly, two are appointed by the student union and one by the staff organizations. The university board’s chair Helena Jäderblom is chair of the recruitment group”, says Anna Riddarström at the Office of the President and responsible for the recruitment process.

At Swedish universities and university colleges the Vice President acts as a deputy for the President and functions as President when he or she is off duty. The term of office for Stockholm University’s current Vice President Clas Hättestrand expires on the last of June 2025, and the new Vice President will be appointed for the period from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2031.

The newly appointed recruitment group will handle the ongoing recruitment of a new Vice President for Stockholm University. They will meet regularly until the end of April 2025 when their work is completed.

At the beginning of 2025, the recruitment group determines a requirement profile and decide on a time for free nomination.

“This requirement profile is an integral part of the work throughout the entire recruitment process and it describes what background, characteristics and what kind of experience the new Vice President must have”, says Anna Riddarström.

The group will also select candidates for interviews and conduct these interviews. They are also responsible for teachers, other employees and students being heard through the consultative assembly.

At the end of April 2025, the recruitment group will, in consultation with the President, submit a proposal for a Vice President to the university board.

The university board then makes the decision to appoint the new Vice President.
