About our websites
Stockholm University has around two hundred websites. Each website has a clear role in the university's entire web system.
Staff web
The staff web should be a useful tool and support you in your work at Stockholm University. Because it has a different purpose than external websites, it is structured and functions differently.
Our main entry points – Research, Education, and Support and Service – are aimed at those who work with research, education, and overall support. The entries Employment and Our SU are meant for you in your role as an employee and colleague at Stockholm University.
Information is structured into (longer) "main" articles that provide cohesive information within a subject area. For in-depth information, there are related articles. You see the content of the page in a content menu to the right of the article. The articles are grouped into sections in the left menu within different information areas.
You can see where you are using the breadcrumb (under the title) and orange markings in the top menu, left menu, and the content menu on the page.
Each page has a right column that shows related resources in the form of tools and systems, documents, and internal training. There are also tags for themes, linking to theme pages that gather articles within content areas found in different places on the web. The right column can easily be brought up in mobile mode.
There are eight ways to find the information you are looking for:
- Structure path, i.e., via menus
- Cross-linking between pages with related information
- Right column with links to related tools/systems, documents, internal training, and themes
- Theme pages by subject area listing articles on the staff web
- Search filtering in menus
- Shortcuts, personal (requires login)
- Search function with filters
- Guidance via an interactive "question box" (coming later)
Websites su.se and su.se/english
In general, the English web should generally mirror the Swedish one in terms of structure/areas.
Departmental websites
Contain a homepage and entries for education, research, and information about the department along with pages for departmental news and events.
Centre, institute or similar
There are three options to set up a centre's website. The type of webpage is decided by criteria such as:the amount of content, independence of operations, national/international significance, communication plan, resources, etc.
Course catalogue
Contains pages for subjects, courses, and programmes, as well as a plan archive for all courses and programmes. Courses and programmes are displayed when there are active course instances, but this can be countermanded in Ladok. These will then be labelled in the right column according to the Ladok setting (i.e. for a certain term or periodicity).
Course syllabus archive
Displays all courses and programmes, including discontinued ones, through a search interface with filters.
Course or programme page displays:
- Existing course or programme syllabus
- Course literature lists stored via Ladok
Research catalogue
The research catalogue consists of pages for projects, subjects, and research groups with entry pages on su.se and su.se/english as well as on websites for departments and centres.
Profile pages
Each employee at the university has their own profile page on the web. Basic information is retrieved from the staff directory SUKAT, and you can add a portrait photo, presentation texts and a publication list from DiVA, as well as links and files.
Profile pages are an important part of the research catalogue with connections to project pages, research groups, and subjects.
Theme pages
On su.se/tema and su.se/themes, theme pages gather different types of content on a single page.
A theme page broadly showcases content: interdisciplinary, cross-organisational, and local/central. Themes are popular science labels for research subjects and educational subjects at Stockholm University. Theme labels can be used on news and calendar articles, related articles, video elements, and for pages in the research catalogue.
