About our websites

Stockholm University has around two hundred websites. Each website has a clear role in the university's entire web system.

Staff web

The staff web should be a useful tool and support you in your work at Stockholm University. Because it has a different purpose than external websites, it is structured and functions differently.

Our main entry points – Research, Education, and Support and Service – are aimed at those who work with research, education, and overall support. The entries Employment and Our SU are meant for you in your role as an employee and colleague at Stockholm University.

Information is structured into (longer) "main" articles that provide cohesive information within a subject area. For in-depth information, there are related articles. You see the content of the page in a content menu to the right of the article. The articles are grouped into sections in the left menu within different information areas.

You can see where you are using the breadcrumb (under the title) and orange markings in the top menu, left menu, and the content menu on the page.

Each page has a right column that shows related resources in the form of tools and systems, documents, and internal training. There are also tags for themes, linking to theme pages that gather articles within content areas found in different places on the web. The right column can easily be brought up in mobile mode.

There are eight ways to find the information you are looking for:

  • Structure path, i.e., via menus
  • Cross-linking between pages with related information
  • Right column with links to related tools/systems, documents, internal training, and themes
  • Theme pages by subject area listing articles on the staff web
  • Search filtering in menus
  • Shortcuts, personal (requires login)
  • Search function with filters
  • Guidance via an interactive "question box" (coming later)

Websites su.se and su.se/english

In general, the English web should generally mirror the Swedish one in terms of structure/areas.

The homepage should provide an overall picture of the university's brand and quickly lead the visitor to the correct target group entry.

The purpose of this entry page is to guide students to the right education and through their studies.

Research information on the web should strengthen SU's brand as a research university. Su.se/research displays a varied selection of the research conducted at SU.

The entry page About the university shows brand-strengthening, factual information about the university and explains what SU stands for in various ways. The information here focuses on university activities, collaborations, staff/organisation, and facts about the area/university.

The News entry (su.se/news and su.se/nyheter) and Calendar (su.se/calendar and su.se/kalender) display news articles and various events respectively. Articles from other websites are displayed with the help of "tagging".

A temporary banner may be displayed at the top of all SU sites.

A red banner is used during an acute crisis/major event and is decided by the Crisis Communication Group.

A blue banner is used for important information.

There are three options to set up a centre's website. The type of webpage is decided by criteria such as:the amount of content, independence of operations, national/international significance, communication plan, resources, etc.

  • A related article under the main article "Centres at the department" (placed under the About the department entry)
  • Gets the same header as the department

  • Own name in the header, gets the address su.se/NAME
  • Consists of a simplified homepage and a main article, with the possibility of related articles and news/calendar.

  • Own name in the header, gets the address su.se/NAME
  • Must meet certain criteria, e.g., certain scope, communication plan
  • Same entries/layout as the department website (somewhat adapted for centres).

Contains pages for subjects, courses, and programmes, as well as a plan archive for all courses and programmes. Courses and programmes are displayed when there are active course instances, but this can be countermanded in Ladok. These will then be labelled in the right column according to the Ladok setting (i.e. for a certain term or periodicity).

There are three entries to the catalogue on our websites for finding the desired course or programme:

Profile pages

Each employee at the university has their own profile page on the web. Basic information is retrieved from the staff directory SUKAT, and you can add a portrait photo, presentation texts and a publication list from DiVA, as well as links and files.

Profile pages are an important part of the research catalogue with connections to project pages, research groups, and subjects.

Theme pages

On su.se/tema and su.se/themes, theme pages gather different types of content on a single page.

A theme page broadly showcases content: interdisciplinary, cross-organisational, and local/central. Themes are popular science labels for research subjects and educational subjects at Stockholm University. Theme labels can be used on news and calendar articles, related articles, video elements, and for pages in the research catalogue.
