New publishing opportunities for Swedish researchers on the open platform ORE

From autumn 2026, Swedish researchers will be able to publish their scientific publications free of charge on the open platform Open Research Europe (ORE), regardless of which funding body has supported the research.

The ORE publishing platform was initiated by the European Commission and offers a model for open and transparent peer reviewed research without paywalls. It provides immediate open access to publications and is free of charge for both authors and readers.

Recently, the research centre CERN was appointed as the hosting organisation for the platform. As the platform is now being further developed through joint funding from a number of European countries, this opens up opportunities for more researchers to publish on ORE, including Swedish researchers.

Sweden contribute with funding through the governmental research funding agencies; the Swedish Research Council, Formas and Forte.

All articles published on ORE are assigned a DOI, indexed in established databases, and published together with open peer review reports.
