How can your teaching contribute to a more sustainable and democratic future? The programme for Stockholm University’s Teachers' Conference is now finalised, and registration is open.
On 19 March 2026, teaching staff, educational leaders and colleagues with teaching-related responsibilities will gather at Campus Albano for a full day focused on higher education development. The conference is part of the University’s strategic investment in strengthening teaching and learning at SU. Participation is free of charge and includes lunch as well as morning and afternoon refreshments.
Teaching for democracy and sustainability
This year’s theme addresses major societal challenges of our time – from generative AI to climate change and democratic processes – and explores how higher education can contribute to sustainable and democratic societal development. How can ecological, social and economic sustainability be expressed in your discipline? What does it mean to teach for students’ Bildung rather than merely training? And how does GenAI influence our teaching and students’ learning?
The conference invites collegial exchange around these and other pressing questions, grounded in a scholarly approach to teaching and learning.

Keynote and 50 contributions
The day opens with the keynote Teaching for tomorrow: trust, agency and sustainability in higher education by Rachel Forsyth and Mirjam Glessmer from Lund University. They will discuss how our teaching – in the classroom and online – can build trust, strengthen students’ agency and lay the foundation for a sustainable future.
You can then choose from around 50 presentations, roundtable discussions and workshops. The programme also includes poster presentations, a panel discussion on education for sustainability and democracy, and a Canvas drop-in room offering support in the transition from Athena to the University’s new learning management system.
The conference language is Swedish, with several contributions in English. A limited number of places are reserved for teachers within the Stockholm Trio collaboration (KTH and KI).
