Older mobile phones will stop working on 1 December
The older mobile networks are being phased out, and after 1 December only 4G and 5G will remain in use. Make sure your phone will continue to work.
As mobile operators upgrade their 4G networks and expand 5G coverage, the 3G network is now being phased out in Sweden. The end is also approaching for 2G.
To ensure that you can continue to make calls and use mobile data, you need to make sure that your mobile phone and any other hardware support 4G or 5G. Older phones and equipment designed for 3G will stop working on 1 December 2025.
How do I know if my phone will work after 1 December?
If you’re unsure whether your phone needs to be replaced, you can send a text message to 222 with the word “4G” or “5G”. You will receive an immediate reply indicating whether your phone supports 4G or 5G.
If you need to replace your mobile phone or other equipment to something that supports 4G and 5G, you must contact the authorised purchaser at your department or equivalent.
