What are you looking forward to during your year as chairman?
“The three universities of Stockholm Trio, with their complementary areas of expertise and ability to meet competition, constitute one of the strongest academic environments in the world. As chairman of the alliance, it is both a pleasure and very rewarding to be involved in leading and developing this successful work.”
What opportunities for development do you see for Stockholm Trio?
“The alliance aims to be a key player and to influence research, education and innovation at regional, national and international levels. This includes important issues such as research funding, societal transformation, migration, academic freedom and responsible internationalisation.”
“The joint representation in Brussels is a good example of how cooperation can contribute to EU policy development and the next major European research initiative, FP10.”
In December, Stockholm Trio will organise an AIMday on sustainable consumption. During your time as president of Umeå University the university organised a number of AIMdays, please share your experiences!
“At Umeå University, AIMday served as a valuable forum for collaboration and for creating collaborative projects between academia, industry and the public sector on pressing issues such as sustainability based on Agenda 2030 and the region’s supply of skilled labour.”
“AIMday also provides a good platform for dialogue, where questions addressed to researchers contribute to the university’s mission of providing research-based knowledge. This is something that I thought worked well at Umeå University.”
