Inspera Originality replaces Ouriginal – data migration and use in Athena

SU will be changing its text similarity analysis tool soon. The migration to Inspera Originality will begin in week 42, and the old service Ouriginal will be discontinued on 31 October.

The university is transitioning from Ouriginal (Urkund) to Inspera Originality as software for text similarity analysis. All texts currently stored in Ouriginal will be migrated to Inspera Originality. The migration is expected to begin in week 42 and will take approximately 2–3 weeks

During the migration, Ouriginal will remain available. However, texts uploaded after 13 October must be uploaded to Inspera Originality after the transition to be matched against future submissions. Texts uploaded to Inspera during the migration will likely be included in the transfer.

Ouriginal will be discontinued on 31 October.

Itslearning has informed us that Inspera Originality cannot be integrated into Athena. However, it will be integrated into Canvas, which will be introduced as the university’s learning platform next year.
To enable text matching before the transition to Canvas, we recommend the following alternatives:

  1. Use Inspera’s Upload Assignment question type: Create an assignment in Inspera where students upload their files. These can then be checked using Inspera Originality (or Ouriginal before the transition). Note: You must create a LIS activity session in Ladok for students to access the assignment in Inspera. Guide: Submitting assignments in Inspera
  2. Use the standalone Inspera Originality portal:
    a. Upload student texts (bulk upload is supported) via the standalone portal. Guide for educators
    b. Alternatively, let students upload their texts themselves. Guide for students
