Apply for the Stockholm PhD Academy
Stockholm PhD Academy 2025 is a free program for international PhD students designed to help them settle in, connect, and explore life in Stockholm beyond academia.

The aim of the project is to prevent international doctoral students from leaving Sweden and instead encourage them to stay and contribute to strengthening Stockholm’s competitiveness. This is done by welcoming them to Stockholm and giving them tools early in their doctoral education to increase their chances of success.
In the autumn of 2025, doctoral students will be offered a program consisting of three evening lectures:
- 22 Sept – Welcome to Sweden (Karolinska Institutet)
- 20 Oct – Swedish history, culture & mentality (Stockholm University)
- 24 Nov – Your future in Sweden (KTH)
The lectures are primarily aimed at doctoral students who are at the beginning of their education.
Students who attend all three lectures can apply for one of 50 places in the spring 2026 career program. This exclusive program is designed for PhD students exploring careers beyond academia and offers personalized coaching, networking opportunities, workshops, and company visits.
The program is free, with limited seats.

Stockholm Ph.D Academy is presented by Stockholms Akademiska Forum – a collaboration between all 18 higher education institutions in Stockholm along with the City of Stockholm.
