FortiClient VPN service is now available on mobile devices

The WireGuard VPN service will be shut down on 30 June. All users are encouraged to start using FortiClient as soon as possible. FortiClient now supports mobile devices too.

As of now, you can use the FortiClient VPN service for mobile devices (iOS and Android). Guides for connecting mobile devices are available in Serviceportalen

As the WireGuard VPN service is being shut down on Monday 30 June, IT Services would like to remind those of you who are still using WireGuard to start using the new FortiClient client as soon as possible, to ensure that the VPN continues to work after your summer holiday.
WireGuard is being phased out in favour of FortiClient because providing two VPN solutions in parallel and developing them to meet the security requirements imposed on the university as an authority is too demanding. It should be emphasised, however, that this is not a question of vulnerabilities in the WireGuard protocol, but rather a lack of resources to further develop important functions such as the administrator interface and checking for infected devices.

With a single employee VPN client, IT Services will be able to allocate resources towards developing the service based on user needs, rather than merely managing it. This will hopefully make the service easier to use for everyone.

You can find VPN guides and frequently asked questions at su.se/vpn.
