Membership in The Conversation ends

Since October, Stockholm University is no longer a paying member of the foundation behind the international digital news magazine The Conversation. Even if membership ends, Stockholm University researchers can continue to contribute with articles within their subject areas.

Stockholm University was a member of the British edition of The Conversation during the years 2019–2025 and several of the university’s researchers have contributed with articles based on their research.

Membership has become significantly more expensive in recent years and additional new costs have been announced. At the same time, a number of initiatives have been made to increase the university’s participation in The Conversation. After a broader evaluation of the membership together with several interested parties, the Communications Office has decided in dialogue not to extend the membership from October 2025.

The university’s researchers can still write for The Conversation and also access material that is open to the public.

The articles that Stockholm University researchers have written for the magazine are still available on the magazine’s website.
