Security vulnerability in the R and R-Studio software packages
There is a serious security vulnerability in the R software. If you are using the software, please update to the latest version to protect yourself and your data.
A serious security vulnerability has been discovered in the R software used by some departments at the university. The vulnerability has been fixed in version 4.4.0 of R, which was released on April 24, 2024.
If you are using R and/or R-studio, IT Services recommends that you update to the latest version of R to protect yourself. Doing so will ensure that known vulnerabilities are fixed, reducing the risk of potential attacks and protecting the integrity of your data analysis.
There may be specific business reasons for occasionally using older versions, and IT Services encourages you to take extra care when downloading RDS files or R packages, and to download from secure sources where possible.
