Reimbursement for medicine

You receive compensation for the costs of medicines that are covered by high-cost protection by law.

High-cost coverage for medicine

'The high-cost cover limits your costs for prescription medicine. This means that you pay a maximum of SEK 2,900 during a 12-month period for medicines that are included in the so-called medicine benefit. Excess costs are paid for by the County Council.

The high-cost cover functions as a discount staircase where you get a greater discount the higher the costs you have had for drugs within the drug benefit. With each new purchase, you start where you were after the previous purchase and climb further up the ladder.

When you have paid SEK 2,900 for your medicines during a 12-month period, you are entitled to a free card for the remainder of this 12-month period. The free card applies to medicines included in the benefit.

What can you get reimbursed for?

You will get reimbursement for the cost of medicines that are legally covered by high-cost protection. To be eligible for reimbursement, you must be employed at Stockholm University and the purchase for the medicine must have been made during your employment.

Please note that during holidays abroad, no reimbursement is paid by the university for medicine.
