Stockholm University Press is a researcher-driven publisher of scholarly books and journals with full open access. Our main focus is to provide support for rigorous peer-review, open access and global dissemination of books and journals within the humanities, social science, natural science and law.
Led by researchers
Our peer-review process follows international standards and assures the quality of all our publications. Peer-review is a common requirement from funders, and it is also appreciated by our authors, as it results in sound publications.
Being part of the University infrastructure for publishing enables us to operate transparently and not-for-profit. Our drive is to publish quality research in books and journals. All Editorial Boards include at least one researcher affiliated with Stockholm University, alongside a number of experts from around the world. The Editorial Boards are responsible for the peer-review and to scrutinise the scientific value of a publication. All the final decisions on publications are made by the Stockholm University Press Publishing Committee, with members representing all four faculties at Stockholm University.
The Managing Editors at Stockholm University Press have vast experience from academic publishing in books as well as journals. The combined skill set of the team also includes journalism, research and graphic design, as well as knowledge on copyright and Creative Commons licensing.
Dissemination and distribution
The combination of open access publishing and national and international distribution makes our publications accessible and easy to find. Our publications are instantly available in commonly used digital formats, as well as via print-on-demand.
We monitor dissemination and citations of our publications and participate in the work of national and international organizations and publishers to increase dissemination of open access scholarly publications.
Cost efficiency
We offer a basic service package matching that of the big publishers. High quality production, but at a much more reasonable rate. We are transparent about the services provided and you will only pay for the actual costs of production, such as typesetting and distribution. Making research openly accessible also benefits research libraries with strained budgets.
