Checklist in the event of threats and bomb threats

Stockholm University should be a safe and secure place for staff, students and visitors. Here you will find checklists and information on how to respond to threats and bomb threats.

Phone threat

Record the threat

  • If possible, enlist the help of someone to listen in on the call.
  • Find out what kind of threat it is: bomb, sabotage or otherwise, and where and when the threat is to be executed.
  • Take down supporting notes in the “Checklist for Threats and Bomb Threats”.

Immediately alert/inform

  • The police on 112 (if the threat is urgent).
  • The University Security Team on 08-16 17 18.
  • The responsible manager at the location/activity under threat.

Keep in mind

  • Try to be calm and factual, both in the conversation with the person making the threat and with the people you are alerting/informing.
  • All threats related to Stockholm University's activities must be reported in the IA System (work environment information system)

Letter bomb/suspected bomb on the premises

Act

  • Call 112 and request the ‘police’ to take possession of the suspected bomb.
  • Activate the evacuation alarm to speed up evacuation.
  • Evacuate the premises where the object is located and lock the doors or otherwise cordon off the premises.

Alert/inform immediately

  • University security team, hotline 08-16 17 18.
  • Manager responsible for the site/operation concerned.

Keep in mind

  • Try to be calm and objective in your dialogue with the people you are alerting/informing.
  • All threats related to Stockholm University's activities must be reported in the IA System (work environment information system)

Bomb threats via email or social media

Register

  • Save the email or link, or alternatively take a screenshot to your blog, article comments section or website.
  • Note the date and time when you received/discovered the message.

Inform/inform immediately

  • University security team, hotline 08-16 17 18
  • Your line manager.
  • IT support to trace the sender if possible.

Keep in mind

  • Do not respond to the threat before consulting your line manager.
  • All threats related to Stockholm University's activities must be reported in the IA System (work environment information system)
  • The security team can, among other things, advise you on how to act, help you file a police report if necessary, and organise guard support if required.
