Självplagiat och när det är okej att återanvända sitt eget arbete
Established good research practice is not to publish the same work more than once, unless this is made explicit and transparent. For example, ALLEA’s European Code of Conduct of Research Integrity includes among listed “unacceptable practices”:
Re-publishing substantive parts of one’s own earlier publications, including translations, without duly acknowledging or citing the original (‘self-plagiarism’).
At the same time, it often makes sense and creates no particular research ethics issues to make use of previous work including texts that one has written in various contexts. In this webinar we will discuss under what circumstances it is permissible to recycle one’s own work. We will look at fora where text duplication is considered acceptable, variations in norms between disciplines and aspects such as publication in different languages. We will also shed light on the question what it is that makes self-plagiarism wrongful.
The webinar will begin with a presentation by Gert Helgesson who will introduce the topic, followed by time for questions and discussion where all webinar participants are welcome to contribute.
The webinar is primarily intended for researchers and others within Stockholm Trio.
The webinar will be in English and in Zoom. Link will be sent to registered participants.
The webinar is organised within the University Alliance Stockholm Trio, a partnership between Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University. You may reach the organising team via etik@fs.su.se .
