This section presents working committees of the field of human science.
The Board’s Working Committee
Tasks of the Board’s Working Committee
- Plan and prepare the meetings of the Board of Human Science.
- Discuss and prepare strategic issues in the human science area.
- Support the Deputy Vice Presidents in their work in the university management.

- The Deans of the Faculties of Humanities, Law, and Social Sciences, including two appointed Deputy Vice President.
- Two student representatives (appointed by the student union).

- The Heads of Faculty and the communication officer.
- Other rapporteurs may be called in if necessary.
- The Deputy Vice Presidents are the chair and vice-chair of the working committee. In case of absence, the Dean can be replaced by the Vice Dean or Deputy Dean.

The Budget Working Committee
The Budget Working Committee was established by the Board of Human Science on 7 February 2024 for the 2024-2026 term of office.
Mission of the Committee
The main task of the Budget Working Committee is to prepare and discuss decisions on the annual budget of the Board of Human Science. It also deals with other budget-related matters that may arise during the year. These may include short-term allocation of funds or long-term financial issues. In addition, the working committe is responsible for monitoring how money is spent in the human science area.
If there are costs involved in carrying out this work, these are paid for by the Board of Human Science.

- The two Deputy Vice Presidents and the Dean of the Faculty of Law.
- The Controller at the Office, is responsible for budget coordination of the Board of Human Science's funds (convener).
- The Head of the Office is responsible for budget coordination of the Board of Human Science funds.
- Three student representatives, one of whom is a doctoral student (appointed by the Student Union).
- The Budget Committee can, if necessary, co-opt people with special expertise to individual meetings.

The Research Working Committee
On 7 February 2024, the Board of Human Science established the Research Working Committee for the term of office 2024-2026.
Mission of the Committee
The Research Working Committee is a permanent group under the Board of Human Science. Its main task is to propose and recommend people to receive research grants, scholarships and the like. They prepare decisions on allocation of money in calls for strategic initiatives in human science. They also review applications and nominations coming from the human science area, which the President must approve. Such applications and nominations include various scholarships and research grants, as well as sabbatical programmes.
Pro Futura Scientia, WAF, MAW, MAW Children and Youth, MMW, Berit Wallenberg Foundation, VR Infrastructure, STINT Teaching Sabbatical, Law Foundation, Trudeau Scholarship are examples of such applications and nominations.
The Research Working Committee also has a fixed item on the agenda at the Board of Human Science meetings where it informs about its work and present its recommendations.
If costs are incurred in connection with the work of the Research Working Committee, these are paid by the Board of Human Science.
Composition of the Committee
The composition of the Committee shall be as follows:
- The two Deputy Vice Presidents
- Two members each from the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences, and one member from the faculty management of the Faculty of Law
- One member from any faculty in the Human Science with special expertise in didactic research
The Chair and Vice-Chair are appointed from among the two Deputy Vice Presidents of the Human Science. The Deputy Vice President who is the chairperson can also be a member and represent his/her faculty.
The Research Working Committee may, if necessary, co-opt persons with special expertise to individual meetings. The Office appoints secretarial support to the Research Working Committee.

Education and Training Committees
The main responsibility of the working committees is to monitor and prepare strategically important educational issues in the Human Science. They examine issues at different levels of education, from undergraduate programmes to advanced research. The committees play an important role in ensuring the quality of education in the Human Science Area.
The Board of Human Science has established three education committees:
- Working Committee for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Education (BUGA)
- Working Committee for Teacher Education (LUB)
- Working Committee for Postgraduate Education (BUF)

The Working Committee on Undergraduate and Postgraduate Education (BUGA) for the 2024-2026 term.
Mission of the Committee
The Working Committee for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Education prepares important educational issues in the Human Science for decision by the Board of Human Science. It reports on its work at each Board meeting. Its mission is to:
- Based on existing internal and external quality assurance systems, continuously monitor and propose systematic measures to ensure and promote the quality of the education in the Human Science.
- Monitor the development of the throughput and study rate in Human Science's programmes, taking into account, among other things, high quality, educational ideals, and broader recruitment.
- Monitor the evolution of the composition and dimensioning of programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, including summer courses, and propose appropriate measures.
- Monitor the development of incoming and outgoing students and the provision of courses in foreign languages to promote internationalization, and propose changes if necessary.
- Prepare proposals for inter-faculty programmes in Human Science.
- Prepare proposals to the President for changes in course classification.
- Identifying and, where appropriate, proposing other measures to promote the strategic development of education in the field.
- The committee may, if necessary, appoint working groups, reference groups, or committees for individual tasks.
Any costs incurred in connection with the work of the committee will be paid by the Board of Human Science.

The Teacher Education Working Committee (LUB)
The Teacher Education Working Committee at Stockholm University prepares teacher education issues at an overall strategic and operational level. The working committee focuses on ensuring the quality and development of education. In addition, the Teacher Education Working Committee strives to promote a smooth organisation and effective cooperation within the teacher education at the university.
The Teacher Education Working Committee (LUB) has a term of office of 2024-2026.
Mission of the Committee
The Teacher Education Working Committee works on behalf of the Board of Human Science and in consultation with the Board of Science. The Committee is appointed for a term of three years at a time. It prepares matters relating to teacher education programmes at Stockholm University, makes decisions on them and ensure their implementation. It also reports regularly to both boards on their work.
The Committee is responsible for:
- Developing the quality of the University's teacher education programmes, including the following up on internal and external quality reviews
- Addressing questions from the teacher education programme councils and the departments involved in the teacher education programmes regarding quality and progression, and promoting a functioning organisation and effective forms of collaboration within the teacher education programmes at Stockholm University
- Processing curricula for teacher education programmes before decisions by the Board of Human Science , processing curricula for school placements (VFU).,processing the educational science core (UVK), before decisions by the Board of Human Science (or by delegation to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor)..
- Other curricula that affect teacher education programmes are prepared by the respective faculty and/or department. This is done, if necessary, in consultation with the Teacher Education Committee.
Working Group of the Committee (LUB-AU)
- The group is composed of the Chair and the two Vice-Chairs.
- The Programme Office appoints secretarial support to the group. The working group shall maintain a continuous dialogue with the programme councils/chairs on the content and quality of the programmes and bring up both problems and success factors to the working committee. Furthermore, the group is to identify issues of a strategic nature for further handling in the working committee. The Teacher Education Working Committee may also appoint other committees or working groups for individual assignments and give special assignments to programme councils.

The composition of the Working Committee shall be as follows:
- Chair (Vice-Dean of in the Human Science Area)
- A Vice-Chair (member of the Board of Science or the Undergraduate
- Committee, if necessary deputising for the Chair)
- One Vice-Chair (Vice-Dean in the Human Science Area, deputising for the Chair)
- All Programme Council Chairs
- Four subject representatives, two from the Faculty of Humanities, one from the Faculty of Social Sciences, and one from the Faculty of Science. The subject representatives should be members of the respective faculty boards.
- Student representatives are appointed in accordance with the university's rules for student influence.
Other organisational representatives can be co-opted if necessary. The head of the Section for Assignment Coordination (SUSa) has the right to attend and speak. The Office of Human Science appoints two people as secretarial support to the committee. The secretariat support must include at least one programme director.

Working Committee on Postgraduate Education (BUF)
The Working Committee on Postgraduate Education (BUF) for the term 2024-2026.
Mission of the Working Committee
The Working Committee for Doctoral Education shall, prior to decisions by the Board of Human Science, prepare strategically important issues relating to doctoral education in the human science. The committee shall regularly report on its work at the meetings of the Board of Human Science.
The Working Committee shall:
Based on existing internal and external quality assurance systems, continuously monitor and propose systematic measures to ensure and promote the quality of education in the field.
Identify and, where necessary, propose measures to promote the strategic development of education in the area.
Assist the Board of Human Science in its work with referrals regarding doctoral education.
The committee may appoint working groups, reference groups, or committees for individual tasks as necessary.
Any costs associated with the committee's work are paid by the Board of Human Science.
Composition of the Committee
- Chairperson: one of the two Deputy Vice Presidents or the person appointed by the Deputy Vice President in his/her place. The Chair should be a member of the Board of Human Science.
- Two Vice-Chairs: appointed by the Deputy Vice President from among the teacher representatives on the Board of Human Science.
- One teacher representative each from the Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law.
- Two directors of studies (or equivalent) from each of the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences and one from the Faculty of Law. A member appointed in the capacity of director of studies may remain a member if the assignment as director of studies is terminated.
- Doctoral student representatives are appointed in accordance with the university's rules for student influence.
- The Office of Human Science appoints two people from different faculty offices as secretarial support to the Education Committee. The secretariat support must include at least one programme director.
