How does the new staff website work?

The new staff website will be an appropriate tool and support for you in your work at Stockholm University. It is a website with clearer navigation, updated and better organised content and many new features to help you find what you are looking for.

At launch, the URLs for top menus and short URLs were redirected from the old staff web to the new one, so that you can more easily find content on the new web if you have bookmarked or saved old URLs.

“We are delighted to be able to present our new staff website after intensive work. We have worked hard to provide better support for our staff and visitors in their work. The new staff website is easier to navigate, has been cleaned of old content and restructured for better readability and searchability. For the web editors, it is easier to work with to create quality content. I would like to thank all the editors in the administration who have done a fantastic job together with us in the project team,” says Anna Karin Haspe, Product Manager for Web in the Digital Channels sub-portfolio and project manager for the migration to the new web publishing system Sitevision.

The new staff website is developed in the new web publishing system Sitevision, which will eventually replace Polopoly where all our websites are now located. Sitevision is well established among Swedish authorities and higher education institutions, is more appropriate and complies better with the rules on digital accessibility, information security and developability.

Continued work after launch

Once launched, the staff website will be continuously built upon and developed with content from each administrative department. If you are missing any information, please contact the page manager.

So how does the new staff website work?

The Staff Web is intended to be an appropriate tool and support for you in your work at Stockholm University. It has a different purpose and is therefore structured and functions in a different way than our external websites.

The menus are now more structured and adapted to what you work with or what information you can search for. There are also many new features to help you find what you are looking for.

Take a look at the new staff web! In the video, we show you how the new web works. You can also read a more in-depth text version about the details of building the new staff website.

Our top entries Research, Education, and Support and service are aimed at those who work with research, education, and general support. The entries Employment and Our SU are aimed at you in your role as an employee and as a co-worker at Stockholm University.

The start page provides you with a selection of news, calendar events, current information, and operational information. In addition, there is an area for customised shortcuts that you can easily manage directly on the page and which you can also access via the hamburger menu.

The information is structured in (longer) so-called main articles that provide a coherent information in a subject area. For more in-depth information, there are related articles. You can see the content of the page in a content menu on the right of the article. Articles are grouped in sections in the left-hand menu within different information areas.

You can see where you are by using the breadcrumb (under the title) and orange markers in the top menu, left menu and content menu of the page.

On each page there is a right-hand column which lists related resources in the form of tools and systems, documents and in-house internal training programmes. There are also thematic labels, which link to thematic pages that bring together articles in content areas found in different places on the web. The right-hand column can be easily accessed in mobile mode.

News and calendar can be found under Our SU > Staff information. The articles are tagged so that you can filter and more easily find what interests you.

The search page has several different filters to help you find the right results, grouped by:

  • Type: people (profile page), web pages, news, calendar, files
  • Section: Support and services, Research, Education, Employment, Our SU
  • Publication: Last week, last month, last year.

8 ways to find what you need

  • The structural route, i.e. via menus
  • Cross-linking between pages with related information
  • Right column with links to related tools/systems, documents, in-house trainings and themes
  • Themed pages by subject area listing articles on the staff website

Questions and answers

The web page contains three columns that can be scrolled separately. If this happens, place your cursor in the article column and scroll or use the links in the ‘Page content’ box.

You can find the support systems under ‘Support and services’ > Tools and systems. The tools are organised by subject area.
A page with Tools and systems A-Z is now also available below.

Use the Shortcuts box on the home page to list your personalised shortcuts to tools and systems. You will then also find them in the hamburger menu.
You must be logged in to create and view your personalised shortcuts.

Project work

The project has been led by the Communications Office and IT Services in co-operation, with reference and pilot groups representing different functions, roles and parts of the university. Content work has been carried out by a small group of web editors within the administration together with the project team.
