Checklist – employee or student accident or death outside Stockholm University
What is important to do if an employee or student has an accident or dies outside Stockholm University?
As soon as possible
- Gather staff and students concerned and inform them of what has happened. Assess and offer help/support to staff and students in need. These will be channelled through Human Resources Office or Student Health Services. Assess whether staff or students need special support.
Listen actively and be sensitive to the different needs of individuals. - Inform the switchboard that incoming calls to the deceased should be referred or switch off the person's phone for incoming calls.
- Review the work situation and assess what measures need to be taken in the first stage to enable the organisation to function properly.

Unless otherwise stated, the actions should be taken by the immediate supervisor! If a manager is not immediately available, it is important that our staff know what needs to be immediately done. These guidelines should therefore be made available in an appropriate place and our staff and students informed of their content.
