Checklist – employee or student experiencing a serious personal crisis
If a staff member or student experiences a serious personal crisis, support is available. Here you can find guidance on what to do in an acute situation, who to contact, and what support is offered for both students and staff.
Emergency help
If a student or staff member is in an acute crisis, is unable to take care of themselves, or expresses thoughts of suicide, contact the psychiatric emergency services in Stockholm County or the emergency care centre at S:t Göran Hospital immediately.

If the situation concerns a student
If you are a manager and feel strong concern for a student, you can contact the Student Health Services for advice and support – regardless of whether the crisis relates to their studies or their private life.
If the situation concerns a staff member
If a staff member experiences a personal crisis, support is available through:
- Occupational health service Avonova: 08-120 125 00
- Human Resources Office: for advice and further guidance
About personal crises
Personal crises may have many different causes. In many cases, the person affected needs support to process the situation. Both the staff member and their immediate manager can contact the Human Resources Office for guidance on appropriate support options.
